Alameda Antique Faire

Thanks to my friend, Darla, I’ve had the Alameda Flea Market (technically it’s the Alameda Points Antique Faire) on my “must go” list for a few months and my sister’s birthday weekend was the perfect opportunity to take a trip up to SF. I probably go to San Francisco at least once a year and my friend since first grade, Mary Kay, lives in Alameda.  How I haven’t heard of it until recently is beyond me.

It takes place the first Sunday of every month and it is HUGE!  My sister, daughter, future son-in-law and MK were up and out early to beat the crowds & the heat.  It was a cool, overcast, foggy morning…..perfect weather for treasure hunting.  We must have walked miles & miles, inspired by some of the creative upcycling done on some old discards, while reminiscing about vintage objects long forgotten.

I sent this pic to my daughter-in-law..they also have a tandem. I like the addition of the baby seat on the back (hint, hint!!)

Soulmate…and Bestie!

We went back to the hotel to relax before my sister’s birthday dinner at a new-ish place called Presidio Social Club.  The atmosphere was fun and lively with thirteen of my niece’s friends.   I must have been a little tired after our busy day because I didn’t take any foodie pics…but I know my steak and duck fat fries were good, as was the mac & cheese!

The next day we were up at the crack of dawn for our long drive home.  A road trip isn’t complete without junk food….

…and I made it home just in time for Pizza Monday and this cake that Taylor & Dan had made for my neighbor Jan’s birthday.

The next antique faire is a couple of weeks away…make plans to take the coastal drive up!
