Books… speak to us thoughtfully, one at a time. They demand our attention. And they demand that we briefly put aside our own beliefs and prejudices and listen to someone else’s. There’s one question I think we should ask one another a lot more often, and that’s “What are you reading?” Will Schwalbe’s Books for Living
So..what are you reading? I’d really love to add more to my list of “must-reads!”
You cannot direct the wind, but you can adjust the sails!
Jeanine, I’m currently reading ‘LaRose’ by Louise Erdrich, and am loving it, although very tragic start.
Previous to this I read The Sellout by Paul Beatty – didn’t like it at all. (It’s a satire on modern black Americans and maybe because I’m not American, most of it was lost on me – and my book club…!)
Next read that I’m looking forward to:
Days Without End, by Sebastian Barry
Books I’ve loved in the last few months:
Preparation for the Next Life – Atticus Lish
A Place Called Winter – Patrick Gale (10/10 from me)
All the Light We Cannot See – Anthony Doerr
Book of the Decade, unless something incredibly incredible comes along!
A Little Life – Hanya Yanagihara
Book of the previous decade –
Wolf Hall, by Hilary Mantel
